I was raised by a very accepting mother who had always taught me that love is love. Because of this I learned to be accepting of everyone so when I came to Rowan in 2009 and found out that not only was there a GSA but they were also putting on a shadow casting of one of my all time favorite movies, I knew I had to join. After the first meeting I went to, I knew I was going to stay involved in the club. Everyone was very warm and welcoming and the meetings were always so much fun. The best part was that such a fun club was making a huge difference on campus. The GSA has raised so much awareness and has grown so much since my freshman year. In the past I've been the public relations officer then the vice president for the club. Each year we have accomplished so much and I can't wait to see what great things that we accomplish this year!

I'm Heather.  I am a Senior Chemical Engineer at Rowan.  I got involved in GSA during my Freshman year when one of my best friends came out to me and needed a friend for support.  At first I began attending meetings to be an encouraging friend but then I found myself becoming more actively involved in the different aspects of the club.  Last year I became the Communications Director for GSA.  In this role, I was responsible for initiating a co-sponsorship with Rowan After Hours (RAH) where I helped plan Rowan's 1st Ever Drag Show.  The show was a huge success for both RAH and GSA and we hope to be doing our 2nd Annual Drag Show next year!!  I cannot wait for the upcoming year and all the great activities we have planned!  Hope to see you at meetings next year. <3

As a freshman in 2010, I made it clear that one of the first clubs I wanted to join was GSA. As an out bisexual female of a multiracial background, I knew that my experience as part of the LGBTQ community was unique and I wanted to share that with other people who could understand and learn more about them! I've been performing in our annual shadowcast production of Rocky Horror Picture Show since my freshman year (Twice as Columbia) and I've been involved in just about every other event since I've joined this club. This will be my second year as secretary, SO I HOPE YOU LIKE READING MINUTES. Also, I've been working really hard on a little campaign called Project 3 which is trying to work with the Rowan administration to create three centers: an LGBTQ Center, a Women's Center, and a Multicultural Center. So hopefully my work on the campaign will affect the quality of life for current and future members of this club that I love so much. Through GSA I've ended up making a ton of friends that I'll never forget and I'll never regret deciding to become involved. I'm so excited to make this year (my last year WAAAHHH) THE BEST YEAR OF ALL TIME. OF ALL TIME. *drops the mic*

I decided at freshman orientation that I was going to join the GSA, and what a great decision it was! Because I joined GSA, I made a TON of friends, got to perform in the Rowan's Rocky Horror Picture Show (who doesn't love dancing in your underwear in front of hundreds of people?!), and bring a huge amount of LGBT awareness to the campus through various GSA activities! The GSA really is an awesome club, and I am SOOOOO excited to help make this year the most kick-ass year ever! I hope to meet some great people during this school year and do some great things with them for the club! :D

I got involved with GSA my freshman year solely because I was a lesbian who wanted to, and still want to, meet more people on campus and be involved with all LGBTQ stuff I could get involved in.  Which worked surprisingly well in my favor cause I met tons of new people who all had varying sexualities and gender expressions while finding an environment where we could discuss ANYTHING.  Between helping out with the Rocky Horror Picture Show and getting fake married in the Spring, I became a thousand times more comfortable in my sexuality and found the best club on campus.  Now let's make this year the best damn year GSA has ever seen!

Liz Ditzel

Sophomore

Writing Arts Major

I'm Liz. I decided to join GSA basically as soon as I set foot on campus as a student, and it's a decision I do not regret. Through GSA, I've become extremely comfortable with myself and my sexuality, met tons of great people, and acquired an army of people running around half-naked and groping people in the dark in directing the Rocky Horror Picture Show. I'm incredibly lucky to be involved with such a fantastic club and surrounded by so many fabulous people. I'm beyond stoked to help run this mother and keep working to make GSA the best organization in the history of forever.

During my first few weeks as a freshman at Rowan, the GSA wasn't a club that I thought about joining. Then I became good friends with a girl down the hall from me (coughcoughLiz) who wouldn't ever stop talking about GSA. She got me involved and I'm happy she did! The more I'd tag along with her to go to meetings and events, the more I enjoyed the club and everyone in it. I was there for a few of the GSA's firsts (building a homecoming float & the drag show) and the GSA is even credited with one of my firsts (losing my Rocky virginity). My involvement in the GSA last year was more of behind-the-scene type things and I'm ready to do more!
